For the first time in its history, China has opened its domestic import market through the International China Import Fair, China International Import Expo- (CIIE) which held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, 2018. Tunisian participation was organized by the Export Promotion Center (CEPEX) in collaboration with the Tunisian Embassy in Beijing. The goal was to consolidate Tunisian-Chinese trade relations and to promote Tunisian products in this market.

China International Import Expo is the most important trade event taking held yearly in Shanghai, thus becoming an essential opportunity for companies wishing to integrate the Chinese market.  The China International Import Fair is a huge event that attracts more than 150 different countries, regional exhibitors and more than 150,000 professional Chinese buyers.

The participation of the Rambourg Foundation at the fair was made of its own initiative and on an individual basis through the “Tunisian handicrafts” stand.

The main objective was to represent Tunisian craftsmanship by highlighting it in front of the large number of visitors of the China International Import Expo. CIIE is an excellent platform for companies to establish new connections where valuable buyers will meet high-caliber suppliers and create the opportunity to develop activities in China.  With this in mind, interviews with Chinese importers interested in the Tunisian craft sector were held with the representative of the Rambourg Foundation to conclude contracts with Tunisian designers and artisans.
